Certification critical to workplace safety.
The matter is so serious that OSHA requires everyone operating a forklift to be certified
by a qualified instructor. At Ignite, we take this seriously as well – conducting our own
certification and training so our workers are the best out there.
Why is this important? If OSHA discovers that your forklift operator isn’t certified, your
company can face significant fines.
So, how do you get forklift certified? There are two stages:
1. Classroom instruction accompanied by a test of the materials reviewed
2. A hands-on evaluation of the forklift operator driving the forklift in the facility in
which they work. A separate hands-on evaluation must be completed in each
facility the associate works in.
OSHA takes the stance that… “if it is not documented, it didn’t happen”. So, proper
documentation of the classroom and hands-on evaluations must be documented in
the associate’s employment file.
Getting certified isn’t one-and-done either. You must be recertified every three years –
and many of the top companies make their operators go through certification annually,
just to keep safety top-of-mind.
For workers, being forklift certified can open more – and higher paying – positions within
a company. And since we understand how critical this is in this economy, so for a limited

office – which will include the classroom instruction and the hands-on evaluation at our
Testing and Training Center.
There are many workers in production and warehousing looking to advance their
careers and getting certification is a great option. This skill can follow you from job to job

There are online certification classes available but, in our opinion, they are not effective.
While they might meet the bare minimum required by OSHA, in-person training is much
more impactful. Many of the online courses don’t set up the worker for success the
way in-person training does and that’s where Ignite comes in to provide this
