At Ignite, we live here and we work here, so we also put a high value on community service. In fact, service is one of our company values. We not only want to serve our clients, we want to make sure we are giving back to the community that supports us. It’s not just lip service, either. We support several local charities and initiatives, putting community service at the forefront of our core values. So far this year, we’ve supported: FESTA, and the Mid-Ohio Food Collective and more. Here’s what we’ve done:
Festa
Ignite served dinner (walking tacos) to youth at the facility while their parents attended ESL classes. Festa stands for Feed, Educate, Serve, Train and Advocate and has programs for adults, families and children. This summer, we also plan to serve lunch at summer camp, which provides children with a healthy lunch, reading support, arts and crafts, and other developmental programs to fight suburban poverty. In December, we will help the organization run a holiday shopping store.
Mid-Ohio Food Collective
Volunteering in the pantry, Ignite helped build about 275 carts stocked with produce, eggs, canned food, dairy products, and more. We also helped load the food into the cars of pantry patrons and then, we helped clean up for the next day. The collective not only provides food but they help with other issues as well. In April, Ignite rallied together with our client ODW Logistics for our annual food drive collecting just under 1,000 cans/non-perishables and personal hygiene products for MOFC.
National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Ohio Chapter
Currently, Ignite is raising money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Ohio Chapter. The funds will be a part of the society’s mission to provide services to those with MS to help improve their quality of life, such as: In-home help, wheelchairs, medication, and more. We will be participating in the awareness walk May 20.
American Heart Association
In August, Ignite will partner with our client ODW Logistics and the American Heart Association to raise money for the association – participating in a walk. We do this annually with ODW! In addition, we have several initiatives on the horizon, as we are seeking ways to help raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer and breast cancer. We will also collect toys in November as part of the Toys for Tots program, which will be donated to Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Community Service: Our “Why”
So, why does Ignite place such a high value on community service? It’s because we are in the business of elevating the industrial workforce. To truly do that, we have to support our community outside of work as well. Industrial professionals are often under-recognized. We want to lift them up. We are on a mission to support our community so that there is more room for people to grow their careers. If you are less worried about how you are going to put food on the table or have a family member who is battling a disease that needs support, you have more time to focus on career advancement. Supporting people in the areas where they need help allows them to flourish in other areas.
